What is Antioch?

Antioch is a youth weekend retreat that is run by high school students for high school students. It is designed to bring teens from our community closer to our faith and to each other. Antioch 6 (our sixth annual retreat) will be held on Feb. 17-19, 2012 at the Claremount Retreat Home in Mt. Arlington, NJ and is run by St. Philip's Youth Ministry members. Transportation will be provided to the retreat center on Friday night. If you would like to attend, please fill out a registration form, which can be downloaded below or picked up at the St. Philip's Rectory. Signed registration forms and money are due no later than Feb. 11.

An Overview of the Weekend

The weekend is run by a team of youth group members who spend many months preparing talks and activities for this weekend, and is overseen by the youth minister of the parish. The team and candidates will participate in a variety of exercises including, group activities and individual reflection, large and small group discussions, liturgy and reconciliation, prayer time, and free time.

The candidates and team spend the weekend at the retreat home building their faith and community. The retreat home provides beds and a place to shower on separate levels for guys and girls. All participants are expected to attend the entire retreat. No one will be permitted to leave the retreat home grounds during the weekend.
